TECHNICIAN TRAINEE/TECHNICIAN APPLICATION PROCESS
Please review the instructions for the license type you wish to apply for before beginning the application. You will be offered the opportunity to upload documentation during the application process. Any information you do not upload should be emailed or mailed to the appropriate staff member.
- Please note: When applying for a license, DO NOT use the charges, convictions and fines section to upload your fingerprint clearance card. The charges, convictions and fines section is meant solely for criminal history, disciplinary action or license denial information.
- If you are able to do so, please scan all of your documents as one file and upload it as your high school diploma, PTCB certificate or proof of legal residency.

Once we receive your application, we will review it and send you a checklist noting any missing documentation.
If your application remains incomplete for more than 90 days, your application will be closed and any fees paid will be forfeited. Application fees are non-refundable.
Once we have determined that your application is complete and that you meet the legal requirements for licensure, we will mail a paper copy of your license to the mailing address you provided on your application. Please ensure that you provide us with your full address – including your apartment number, if necessary.
Staff may decide that a Board appearance is necessary to determine if you are eligible for licensure. If this occurs, you will be notified in writing.
TECHNICIAN TRAINEE REAPPLY APPLICATION PROCESS
Individuals wishing to reapply for a technician trainee license should review the reapply instructions. DO NOT submit a reapply application online.
FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE CARDS
If you are applying for licensure as a pharmacy technician trainee, pharmacy technician, intern or pharmacist, you must now submit a valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card with your application.
If you have a valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card, submit a copy with your application.
If you do not have a valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card, you must obtain one before applying for licensure. To obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card, you may apply online at: http://fieldprintarizona.com/. Select the Regular Application - Paid Employee, then select the Board of Pharmacy - Licensure. The statutory reference for our agency is A.R.S. § 32-1904.
For questions contact the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS). You may contact DPS by calling 602.223.2279. DPS office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Applicants who are not in Arizona must contact DPS for an application packet.

LICENSE STATUS EXPLANATION
PENDING: The Board has received your application. It is awaiting review by Board staff. You cannot work as a technician/trainee/intern on this status.
IN PROGRESS *: The Board has reviewed your application. Your application may be missing documentation or may be awaiting final review. You cannot work as a technician/trainee/intern on this status.
* Technician trainees who still have an active license, but have applied to convert over to a technician license, may continue to work on their trainee license until the technician license is approved and the status says “open”.
OPEN: All documents have been received and approved. You are eligible to begin working. Hard copies of your license and wall certificate will be mailed to you.
CLOSED-NEVER OPENED: Your application has been closed, as we have not received all of the required documents in a timely manner (90 days). You cannot work as a technician/trainee/intern on this status. If you wish to work as a technician/trainee/intern, you must apply for licensure anew.
APPLIED – AWAITING BOARD APPROVAL: A Board appearance is required to determine if you are eligible for licensure. You cannot work as a technician/trainee/intern on this status.
